You may be experiencing different Facebook like counts, Facebook Comments and Google Plus count in blogspot.com and blogspot.in due to country specific URL. The solution for different Facebook Like count and Google Plus count is unveiled here. By adopting this simple trick your number of Facebook Like and Google Plus count will be same to all country specific url.

Solution for Different Facebook Like and Google Plus count due to ccTLD

One possible solution for the above said problem is to use Canonical tags wisely. The canonical tags will helps you to control the change of social share counts in country specific URL. For this follow the steps below.

You can see data:post.url variable which is used for promoting the blog post, then you have to replace it with data:post.canonicalUrl. If you are using data:blog.url then replace it with data:blog.canonicalUrl. By doing this simple trick your Facebook Like and Google Plus counts will be restored into actual states.

The same trick can be used in Facebook comments widget. Some bloggers are reporting different Facebook comments due to ccTLD. This can be rectified by replacing data:post.url tag with data:post.canonicalUrl.
Blogger has introduced country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) or country specific URL for blogs hosted under blogger. The country specific URL by blogger has caused serious drop in blog's traffic. The mostly effected blogs are the blogs which does not have canonical tags in their templates. This may be be due to the customization of blogger template.

Solution for Low Traffic due to Country Specific URL (ccTLD) for Blogger websites

To re-gain traffic effected by country specific URL, you have to ensure that canonical tags are present in your website. For this look for the following tags in your blog template.

If your blog template contains the above code, then you are safe. The canonical tags will be automatically generated using this tag. If the tag is not present you can add the same code just below the <head> tag. By adding the above codes effect any of your blog customization, then you can try this code.

What Canonical Tag can do?

The Canonical tag refers the actual location of the blog. If one is visiting blogspot.in through search engine, the Canonical tags says the search engine that page is originally hosted in blogspot.com. If you don't add Canonical tags then search engine will think that same pages are seen in different domains and the traffic will reduce due to the duplication of content.
Google has rolled out country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) for bloggers. It has been already implemented in India and we can see blogspot.com redirecting into blogspot.in when we open any blogger websites from India. You can read more from Blogspot.com redirects to Blogspot.in- What may be the reason?

Anyway here I will find some answers for questions which will be formed in every bloggers mind about ccTLD.

How my blog traffic effected from ccTLD?

Yes, the ccTLD can make a significant drop in your blog traffic. The Google crawlers will be seeing same content in many domains. For example same blog contents will be seen on myblog.blogspot.com and myblog.blogspot.in. Even the official announcement from Google about ccTLD has mentioned about this fact. Anyway they also mention that their engineers are trying to avoid this difficulty caused by ccTLD

How my blog ranking effected from ccTLD?

Yes, your blog ranking will be effected from ccTLD. Both the Alexa ranking and Google page rank is effected from ccTLD. As Alexa treats all country level domains as different websites, the alexa rank for each websites will be different. For example myblog.blogspot.in will be having different Alexa rank compared to myvlog.blogspot.com. Also Google page rank will also be reduced and the reason is similar to Alexa.

How my Social Share effected from ccTLD?

Social share buttons like Facebook Like, Google Plus and Tweet buttons are also effected from ccTLD. The likes which you got in blogspot.com will be different from that of blogspot.in. So the counting is effected by ccTLD.

Anyway we can expect some possible solutions from Google to reduce the impacts caused by ccTLD. Anyway if you want to escape from ccTLD, the best way is to buy a custom domain.
Today when I visit one of my blog, my Alexa rank was suddenly reduced. I can't find any reason until I look into the address bar of my browser. Instead of blogspot.com I found blogspot.in in my address bar. I look into some blogs in net and found that every blog is redirecting into blogspot.in. I fear that all Indian blogs have given this sub-domain by blogger and it may seriously effect my traffic from other countries. But my fear get partially reduced when I look on to Google official blog and found that the official blogs which is hosted from America are also re-directing to blogspot.in. So I understand that Google is re-directing every blogs country wise. So if you are browsing adsense.blogspot.com which is a blog from America it will appears as adsense.blogspot.in in India and adsense.blogspot.com.au in Australia. So the address of the blog depends upon readers country. Google call this as country-code top level domain (ccTLD). Strange and sad fact but its true. Thankfully this change ha no effect on blogs hosted on custom domains.

Blogspot.com to blogspot.in- What is the reason?

Recently Google have faced legal issues from many countries. Indian Supreme Court have asked to appear Google before the court. Since Google allows many features to express the thought independently, many bloggers are using this feature in a wrong way which has been causing serious legal issues in some countries.

So Google decided to introduce country-specific url (what Twitter does) and by doing so they can remove a particular content from showing in one country and can still show the same content in other countries. Anyway as Internet is influencing the society strongly Government are trying to tag the internet with laws and internet companies are forced to limit the features that are providing to customer. Anyway let's hope that Google will find some solution to the effect of country-code top level domain (ccTLD).

What is Luminate ads?

For the bloggers who still don't know Luminate, Luminate is an unique platform which provide advertisements on your images. The company was launched in 2009. In the initial stage it shows shopping information of products where the publisher get sale commission when reader buys the product through his advertisement. The publisher has the freedom to select the product which has to be displayed in the images of his blog. But later Luminate introduce PPC adsense to images. This is supported by Google. So through Luminate bloggers can display adsense similar to Google adsense on the images. The Luminate ads will looks similar to the image below. The first one displays Google ads and second one displays the product.

Luminate ads will also display some application at he foot of the image. It contains Facebook app, Twitter app, Bing image search, Blekko search and many other. Another interesting thing is that Luminate does not have any limitation in displaying ads. If your page contains 10 images, Luminate will display ads in all these images. Luminate ads will be displayed when the reader hovers the image.

Payment procedure for Luminate

Luminate will pay you when your account reaches $10. Payment is made through Paypal and standard bank draft. But unlike other advertisement companies Luminate will not combine the earning of different websites. If you have two registered blogs 'A' and 'B' in Luminate account and in a particular month 'A' have an earning of $8, and 'B' have an earning of $9 then Luminate will not pay you in that month. You will get payment for 'A' when it reaches $10 and you will get payment for blog 'B' when it reaches $10. So Luminate will consider different blogs has different accounts.

Can I use Google adsense along with Luminate and is their any limit of ad units?

Google adsense will allows only 3 ad unit per page. Since Luminate is also providing adsense from Luminate, most readers have doubt about maximum ad units. Since Luminate is a separate network Google don't count the ad units of Luminate. In short you don't have to remove your old ad units of Google adsense to introduce Luminate.
